Messages: 38 Likes Received: 1. I currently play lead guitar for a death metal band. But I needed an amp with more low growl chug sound. I have been looking at several used 's on guitar center, and was wondering if I should go for it. Your opinions on the amp? Messages: 26, Likes Received: 10, Do it. With players such as Soulfly's Max Cavalera ensconced in ads for this new head, you can bet a decent jazz tone isn't top of the agenda here. It's hardly Peavey's first attempt at a watt three-channel head either. But where the , for example, squeezes additional gain courtesy of a switchable crunch option into a pair of channels, the follows the JSX series by providing three independent channels across a feature-packed yet logically laid-out front panel. Each channel possesses separate bass, middle, treble and volume controls, with the dirtier rhythm and lead channels additionally loaded with their own gain controls. There's no reverb, which isn't much of a concern considering the target audience, while the overall output is controlled by a master volume. Read more: Peavey Invective Head. If you're too impatient in your pursuit of rock to connect the included three-way footswitch, you can flick between channels via the front-loaded three-way toggle. The remote three-way, as well as giving access to the channels, also allows you to switch the mono effects loop in and out - the rear-placed send and return jacks have their own level controls, potentially a very useful feature indeed. Also on the rear panel, and keeping traditional features such as the speaker outs and associated impedance selector company, is a three-way slider switch. This enables you to alter the way in which the amp interacts with the speakers themselves.

JMarz New Metal Member. It's the XXX's son, basically. Trevoire Member. Can't say I like the new look tbh Metaltastic Member. I have no great love for Peavey, but just to give them the benefit of the doubt, I don't suppose any of you have actually played one? I felt one up at Guitar Center a couple months ago. The pots seemed chintzy, like the knobs were going to snap off if you looked at them wrong.

Force Member. I don't mind the way it looks actually. DrakkarTyrannis Member. I really like the new look. Prefer it much more to the XXX look. So if you hated the XXX, chances are you won't be too in love with this. Checked out the Product page and you're right it does ship with EL34s but is interchangeable with 6L6 as well. Morgan Member. I like that they're going back to the clunky look of their old amps instead of trying way too hard to make their stuff look "badass" JSX, XXL, XXX but I noticed they've beefed up the logo I guess someone tipped them off about the logo mod.

Uladyne Greg. The XXX is pretty gay looking as well. I remember not wanting to buy it because it was so cheesy, but finally gave in and got it. I really wanted to replace the "mudflap girl" plate with something else though.

And c'mon, "Bottom", "Body", and "Hair" for bass mid and treble controls? Mutant I hate that supercow! Max Cavalera is endorsing these as well I think. HeadCrusher Member. So does that mean if you change the pre-amp tubes in an XXX you'll get a ? Power amp tubes to EL34, yes it may be possible. We don't know if they have altered the tone stack or preamp design or any other aspect of the board so it could be tweaked now, could be the same as the XXX is. If so, then just switching the power amp tubes to EL34 should do the trick.

Atleast it doesn't have a fucking 'hair' knob. Even amps are fucking novelty now. You must log in or sign up to post here. Show Ignored Content. Share This Page Tweet. Your name or email address: Do you already have an account? No, create an account now.
