Baby shower is a celebration of new life. When your family is full of love and happiness you what to share your joy with others. You decide to throw the baby shower. Of course you have a lot of questions: how to make baby shower fun and interesting, how to entertain your guests?
Today I want to describe several fun games for your baby shower.
- Baby zoo
Each guest is requested to bring a small, unwrapped, baby-safe stuffed animal. The stuffed animal would be in addition to their shower gift or card, and you can set a cost limit to $5 or $10, whatever you think would be appropriate for your guests. Alternatively, you could set a size limit, such as “smaller than the baby”.
Make sure to encourage the guests to bring something creative or unique. They will have the opportunity to share about the stuffed animal later.
When the guest arrives, they place the stuffed animal in a box, just make sure it is something you can’t see into easily. Sometime during the shower, the mother-to-be will reach in and take an animal out one-by-one, then guess who gave it. She keeps guessing who gave the animal until she finds out who did, then that person can share why they gave that gift.
The baby will then have a fun collection of stuffed toys to stimulate their creativity and keep them company! Plus, each toy can remind the mother of the person who gave it, which can be both comforting and supportive. Perhaps they will even remind her of who might be available to baby-sit in the future!
- Who Knows You the Best
Write down 10 questions (or more) pertaining to Mom to be (ex: her favorite color, what she plans on naming the baby, who she first told she was expecting, what’s the baby’s due date, etc.) make copies. Hand one to each guest, who ever answers the most questions right wins a prize. - Baby’s Birth Date 50/50
During the course of the afternoon, let people know that there are tickets available (1 dollar a guess, 5 guesses for 3 dollars) guess at what time you think the baby will be born. Whoever is the closest gets half of what money was collected. The other half collected can start a college fund for the baby.
- Other Half
Ahead of time make up plenty of note cards with items that go together in pairs (like one note card saying BOTTLE one saying MILK) have enough so that everyone at the shower gets one. Then have everyone go around trying to find “their other half”. This is a great game for people to get to know each other. - Baby Poem
The mom tells the guests the story of her pregnancy and the babies birth. The guests take notes then they are given 5 minutes to write a poem. - Gifts For All
Go to a dollar store and buy dollar items such as soaps, candles, etc. Wrap in tissue and place in a basket.
At the shower, when you are going to be opening your gifts, announce to your guests that a timer will go off every 7 minutes and whoever’s gift you are opening at that time will be awarded a gift also. Have one friend set the timer every seven minutes and another friend walk around the room with the basket to reward the winners. Everyone pays attention and wants to win with less of an effort that is used in BINGO. - Prize Balloon
This is a really easy game to play and set up. First, you’ll need to know how many guests will be going to your baby shower and then get that amount of balloons.(Example: 16 guests = 16 balloons. It’s always a good idea to get a couple extra just in case one pops or something).
Then, you get little pieces of blank papers and put them into the balloons before you blow them up. On only one piece of paper, write “winner” (or whatever you’d like) and place that in a balloon.
Right before your baby shower is over, hand out one balloon to each person and have them pop it. The person that has the paper with writing on it gets the prize. It’s as easy as that.
- Baby Birthday Card
Pass out blank cards to each guest, with the envelopes numbered 1 to the number of guests (say 16). Each guest can write a birthday card to the baby for that year of his/her life. (e.g. for 16 “you’re learning to drive this year!”) It’s a great gift for the baby, especially if older relatives are present who can then be remembered years later - Taste It!
You buy 6 or more baby foods. Put a little of each on a disposable plate with a number written beside it. Each guest gets a sheet of paper with their guess as to what each number is….tough ones like sweet potato or blueberries are always the most difficult. It is lots of fun to watch people’s faces when they taste peas or squash. - Baby Bingo
When guests first arrive, have them fill in the spaces on a pre-printed “bingo” card. (You can make the card by just using a computer to put boxes on a sheet of paper. Do not fill the boxes in, the guests will do it. Don’t forget to include a free space). Have the guests fill in the boxes maybe at the beginning of the shower of gifts that they think the mother-to-be will receive. Whenever she decides to open the gifts, have them cross out the gift that she opens and that they have listed on their sheet. The first one with “Baby Bingo” wins.
